David Manja won the men’s race at the Gun Run half-marathon

David Manja charged to another impressive victory on Sunday, and Jenna Challenor took another step forward in her comeback from injury to win the women’s half-marathon at the Gun Run road race in Cape Town.

Manja, who secured the SA cross country title last month, won the men’s race in 1:02:50.

He crossed the line just 35 seconds outside his personal best, which he set when he earned the silver medal at the SA 21km Championships in Port Elizabeth in July.

Challenor, meanwhile, defended her Gun Run title in 1:16:35, proving she was regaining her best form after undergoing knee surgery earlier this year.

Gladwin Mzazi, bouncing back from injury troubles of his own, won the men’s 10km contest in 29:32, and Zimbabwean athlete Rutendo Nyahora took the women’s race in 34:02.
