A world-class field will line up next week for the Randburg Street Mile, with organisers revealing impressive start lists for the event, to be held on September 4.

The open men’s race will be spearheaded by Olympic 800m semifinalist Rynardt van Rensburg, who faces the likes of former World Student Games 1 500m bronze medallist Jerry Motsau and national champion Folavio Sehohle.

The junior men’s entries include George Kusche, who reached the semifinals at the World U-20 Championships in Bydgoszcz last month, and rising steeplechase star Ikageng Gaorekwe.

The open women’s contest is expected to be led by twin sisters Lebo and Lebogang Phalula, with Tembisa Street Mile champion Simonay Weitsz forming part of a strong junior contingent.

National record holder Anel Oosthuizen, who also competed at the Rio Olympics, will headline the inaugural street walk race.

Aside from a series of street mile (1.609km) races across various age groups, the event also consists of a 10km challenge and a 5km fun run.
