In-form javelin throw specialist Sunette Viljoen and sprinter Carina Horn will carry the SA flag at the sixth leg of the Diamond League series in Birmingham on Sunday.
Having cemented her place as the top thrower in the world this year, after earning another Diamond League win in Rome on Thursday, Viljoen will look to launch a big effort and boost her confidence again in the build-up to the Rio Olympics.
The world leader, after producing a heave of 65.14m at the Diamond League opener in Doha last month, she is up against a strong field which includes three other women – Christina Obergfoll of Germany, Kathryn Mitchell of Australia and Madara Palamaika of Latvia – who have all gone over 64m this year and will be eager to knock the South African off her perch.
Horn, who shares the national record of 11.06 with Evette de Klerk, turns out in the women’s 100m sprint.
World 200m champion Dafne Schippers spearheads the line-up for the short dash, which includes heats and a final.

Schedule of SA athletes competing at the Diamond League meeting in Birmingham, England on Sunday (5 June, 2016):

3.13pm – Carina Horn (women’s 100m heats)
4.53pm – women’s 100m final
