Caster Semenya and Akani Simbine celebrate with their Pukke and Tuks teammates after sharing the Varsity Athletics trophy last season

The Varsity Athletics meeting scheduled to be held at the University of Johannesburg next week will go ahead as planned.
Organisers said on Thursday the event would be held on March 18, with the student series set to kick off after the opening leg had been postponed last week due to student protests around the country.
The provisional line-up for the UJ meeting boasted a number of in-form elite athletes, including SA 100m record holder Akani Simbine, who clocked 9.96 seconds in his first race of the season in Pretoria on Tuesday, and Olympic 800m silver medallist Caster Semenya who set a 400m personal best of 52.21 over the weekend.
Varsity Sport did not confirm whether the suspended Stellenbosch leg would be held at a later stage. If it was called off, the UJ meeting would be the only event in the 2016 student athletics campaign.
