Defending champion Theodore Nothling will face a strong challenge from a large 18-man elite field at the third and final leg of the Eagles Club Classic Shootout series in Joburg on Friday night.
Nothling, who won the 1 000m race last year in 2:21.96, is up against a line-up including former World Student Games 1 500m finalist Pharson Magagane, former SA 10km champion Jeromy Andreas and rising steeplechase star Tumisang Monnatlala.
In the women’s 1 000m race, two-lap specialist Anuscha Nice squares up against a 12-strong field featuring in-form junior athletes Carina Viljoen and Simonay Weitsz.
The meeting will be held at UJ Stadium, on the sidelines of the Helpmekaar Golden League schools’ event.
