Cherese Jones took fourth place in the women’s 60m dash on Friday night, clocking 7.58 seconds at the International Gugl Games in Linz, Austria.
Jones, the only SA athlete competing at the European Indoor Permit meeting, was 0.12 outside her four-year-old personal best in the short sprint.
The race was won by Maja Mihalinec of Slovenia in 7.28.
Jones had secured victory in her first-round heat earlier in 7.59, recording the same time as Czech teenager Nikola Bendova to qualify for the A-final.
The 30-year-old speedster will turn out again at the Ifam indoor meeting in Gent, Belgium on Saturday.
She is set to be joined by compatriots Andre Olivier and Mandie Brandt, who are in the men’s and women’s 800m start lists.
