Elroy Gelant earned his third victory at the Dis-Chem Half-Marathon

Elroy Gelant got his season off to a solid start with another victory at the Dis-Chem Half-Marathon in Bedfordview on Sunday morning.
Gelant, who will attempt to book his place in the national track team for this year’s Olympic Games, won the annual race for the third time in four years.
The Boxer Athleic Club athlete crossed the line in 1:06:14, five seconds ahead of Namakoe Nkasi, who turned out in the colours of the Cool Running outfit.
Marathon specialist Desmond Mokgobu ended third at the high-altitude race in 1:07:39.
Nolene Conrad, who will return to the track this year as she targets a place in the squad for the Rio Games, secured a comfortable win in the women’s race in a new course record of 1:16:38.
She was more than four minutes clear of second-placed KPMG Running Club teammate Jenna Challenor (1:20:29) who was in preparation for the Nagoya Women’s Marathon in Japan in March.
Ultra-distance athlete Yolande Maclean took third place in 1:24:35.
