Akani Simbine coasted to an easy double on Wednesday night, winning the men’s 100m and 200m races at the Folksam Grand Prix, an Area Permit meeting held in Karlstad, Sweden.
The joint SA record holder charged to victory in the short sprint in 10.09 seconds, crossing the line 0.13 clear of second-placed American Trell Kimmons, and he went on to bag the half-lap win in 20.64, more than half a second ahead of another American, Pat Feeney, who clocked 21.19.
In the men’s long jump, Ruswahl Samaai was unable to approach the eight-metres mark, producing a best leap of 7.88m in the third round.
Andreas Otterling of Sweden secured victory with an 8.13m effort.
