One-lap hurdler LJ van Zyl will be the only South African competing in Doha on Friday night, at the opening leg of the 2015 Diamond League campaign.
Van Zyl has been in solid form this season, clocking 49.26 seconds to qualify for the World Championships in Beijing in August and setting a 200m career record of 20.71.
Last week, at the Great City Games in Manchester, the former Commonwealth Games champion made his international season debut in fine style by equalling the 200m hurdles world best of 22.10 set by Andy Turner of Great Britain in 2011.
The SA record holder, who has twice previously won his specialist event in Doha, will be up against a world-class line-up in the Qatari capital.
His strongest challenges are expected to come from American Bershawn Jackson, the 2005 world champion, and double Olympic champion Felix Sanchez of the Dominican Republic, who was third in Manchester last week.
Live coverage of the meeting starts at 6pm on Friday night on SuperSport 8.
