Anaso Jobodwana smashed the national 200m record on Saturday night, clocking 20.06 seconds at the Cayman Invitational meeting in the Cayman Islands.
The 22-year-old speedster won the race, finishing 0.09 ahead of Anguillan teenager Zharnel Hughes and chopping 0.05 off Morne Nagel’s 13-year-old SA mark.
“It was a fast track and a great competition, so I’m not really surprised,” said a delighted Jobodwana.
The US-based athlete confirmed he would compete again at the Prefontaine Classic, a Diamond League meeting in Eugene, Oregon at the end of the month.
“I think I can go faster,” he said.
